Fishing Boat in Oma Zaki
Fishing boats in a fishing village. Oma-zaki is famous as a tourist spot, but it is also famous for its fishing industry.
Tourists come from all over the country to visit this unique place, the northernmost tip of Honshu. I also drove 11 hours from Tokyo to get there. There is a monument at the northernmost point of Honshu, and tourists spend their time around it, taking pictures, resting, and doing whatever they want.
The area around the monument is lined with souvenir stores and restaurants catering to tourists, and during the consecutive holidays in May when I visited, all the stores were overflowing with people.
The area around the tourist area where the monument is located is a traditional fishing village, dotted with boats, boat docks, fishing warehouses, and private homes.
