Horizon and Lighthouse
Hokkaido can be seen beyond the lighthouse and the horizon. Even though Oma-zaki is the northernmost point of Honshu, the coast was pleasantly warm under the May sun. It was a clear day, but the horizon was hazy and the land of Hokkaido was only faintly visible.
The island with the lighthouse in the center is called Bentenjima and is located 600 meters north of Oma-zaki. It is a breeding ground for seagulls, and if you look closely, you can also see a shrine.
Oma-zaki has been developed as a sightseeing spot, and visitors can touch the sea water just by walking down the stairs facing the shore. This photo was taken here. The day was warm and calm, but the sea water was cold.
I have been here twice before. The first time was with my father, and the second time was alone. This is my third time. Why did I visit this place, which is not that close to Tokyo, three times? Was it because it is the northernmost point of Honshu? Because the seafood is delicious? I am not sure why. But there is no doubt that there is something about this place that keeps me coming back again and again. I am sure I will visit again.
